The little quail we now know as "Button Quail" first became popular in the late 1800’S and early 1900’S. European Tourists visiting China first took notice of them in bamboo cages that hung in the gardens near the entrance of Chinese homes. When they inquired about the tiny birds they were told they were Chinese Blue Breasted Quail and those who cared for them were bestowed with good fortune. With their tiny size, endearing personalities, delightful calls and the promise of good luck, tourists readily bought them and took them home to put in their garden aviaries. The Americans reported that they were "Cute as a button and about the size of a coat button when first hatched". It was then, that the quail, along with it’s new name was introduced to America. The name "Button Quail" stuck and quickly spread throughout the world. These little guys are Bottom Dwellers, they don't need to have perches, just a nice cage with a hutch type area attached , to get out of the weather. They eat Gamebird food, along with fruits and veggies, and they love to eat Meal Worms, don't forget to get them meal worms for protein, also the female Buttons really need Oyster shells for calcium.

I am working with more rare and fun colors, My Buttons come from a very famous breeder of button quail, they claim that all the New and rare colors that are available today ,  came from their farm first.
Their whites are imported , I purchased thier hatching eggs and asked for the colors I want to work with, White, Slate , Slate splash, and Silver, I hatched out some nice whites, that come from the imported parents, and looks like some slate colors, I will be selling pairs and hatching eggs of these cool colors very soon.

Check back from time to time to see what I have up for sale, my buttons are beautiful, and I seperate them by color so I can breed the colors true.
I am really tired of all the eggs out there for sale that come from a totally mixed batch of buttons all running together, seems I can not get the colors I want , because everyone just lets them run together, so I am going to do something different and try to offer eggs from one color if you want it, or send a mixture of eggs from seperate pens of the colors I listed above.

The link to the Breeder I spoke of above is at the bottom of this page, Zebrafinch.com they are very serious about their Buttons and the new Colors they are producing.
