Welcome to Lakeside Silkies, we are located in Bozrah Connecticut on Beautiful Gardner's Lake, we are not a Business, This is a hobbie for myself and my children, since they love Chickens, I thought I would give us something to do, hatching chicks, and maybe get them into 4H or some sort of Group for kids , to learn about animals, and the wonders of Birth and the life of Chickens and Ducks.
If I have to many hatched at a given time, or cant keep what I have because we dont have much room for chickens, I will post them up for sale, for others to injoy.
I seen my first real silkie on HatTrick silkies website, and fell in love with them at first sight..I couldn't believe there could be a chicken that was cute and fluffy, with feathers that feel and look like fur.. they are so soft and have such wonderful personalities. .. I knew that I would always have silkies from that day on, so ...I set out to have the best quality silkies I could own and raise.
I purchased my first hatching eggs, the summer of 04 from Janet at HatTrick silkies as a Auction win and hatched out 4 chicks, 2 buffs and 2 splash.
This summer I have won around 4 of there Auctions and hatched out lots of Buff ..Blues, and Splash chicks, and boy are they beauties, they will be added to my Breeding pens when old enough with my other 4 from last year, and this is the beginning of my Stock ... I did Win a Auction from Eddy Travers ... and have 1 of his chicks who is now about 3 months old, and she will be added to the breeding pen of HatTricks blues and splashes for next spring.
At this time my splash HatTrick silkies from last years 04 hatch are breeding, and I have hatched out some beautiful chicks from them, they will be on my sale page, so check the sale page for available chicks ... and if you want to purchase any birds from me please contact me so I can call the airport transportation office, and see if I can send out birds to your Address.
When I have eggs they will be on Eggbid only , So check my Auction page, All my Silkies are of the best quality .. and are posted for you to see on this website, they are all 100% Hat Trick silkies for Blue, Splash, and buffs..., next summer my Eddy Travers Black chick will be introduced in blue splash breeding pen ,and she is beautiful, I will post photos of her on my black Silkie page.
My chickens are free of any Disease or Parasite or worms, I am a FREAK about keeping them clean, and worming plus I vaccinate them starting at one week old for a few Diseases that can be picked up at shows or other places from infected birds, that are infected or From Mosquito bites, although I do not show at this time so my birds are isolated and healthy, I still plan on showing them at some point, and will keep them vaccinated to keep them healthy... I vaccinate for Mareks , Coryza and Pox.. those are the 3 vaccines that were Recommended to me by Peter Brown.. aka the chicken doctor.
Peter is Really good with answering questions, and his link is below called First State Vet Supply .. so look him up...if you order chicks from me you will get your chicks after they have finished their vaccinations, so it will be about 12 weeks before they will be shipped to you.. and that also gives them a chance to grow up a bit before shipping.
The Coryza vaccine cant be done till 8 weeks , and then again the booster in 4 weeks from that, If you choose to not want the Coryza shot for your chicks, I can do the Meriks only at around 3 days old... that will get your chicks to you earilier , but you must promise me to give them the Coryza shot when they are of age, becasue that disease is just spreading around big time, at shows, and everywhere, I am going to post a Article that Peter Brown wrote about Coryza , this is a disease that is very catchy and if you show you should vaccinate for, I dont show , but when I do have available birds People who like to show sometimes buy them , and so I protect them from Coryza by vaccinating all birds before the age of 4 weeks, and again at 8 weeks to do my part in the prevention of this disease.
